On September 18, 2020, our founder and legend, Michael Tilleman, "Big Mike" passed away at the age of 76.

In 2000, Mike Tilleman sat down with many of his friends to brainstorm fundraising ideas on how to support MSU-Northern Athletics, specifically bringing back the sport of football to the college. The NLASF was formed as a supporting foundation to help fund athletic scholarships, provide assistance to coaches as well as supplement the athletic department for other purchases. If it weren't for Mike and his friends...and that bar napkin where those ideas were first written...the NLASF wouldn't have been able to donate over $2 million dollars in funds over the past twenty years. Though Mike is no longer with us, his spirit lives on through everything he has built and dedicated his life to.
